History
1980
PULS GmbH was founded by Bernhard Erdl, a pioneer in the development of switched mode (pulsed) power supplies since 1973.
1981
Introduction of the first switched mode power supply for 19-inch racks with a particularly shallow depth of 25 mm and a switching frequency of 120 kHz.
1985
Breakthrough in efficiency: Over 85% for a 5V/50A power supply; first automatic voltage selection for 115/230 V.
1986
Quantum leap in automation: Introduction of in-circuit tests, fully automated function testing and computer aided design (CAD).
1989
First products based on Surface Mount Technology (SMT) , further reducing power supply size; e.g., 80 W triple output in a 19"/6TE Euro-cassette with 115/230V auto select.
1992
Purchased a new manufacturing facility in Munich
Standardized on using synchronous rectifiers/MOSFETs instead of diodes.
1995
PULS becomes a founding member of the European Power Supply Manufacturers Association EPSMA.
1997
Shifted strategic focus to power supplies for DIN-rails, introduced the SilverLine family (60-960W). It is considerably smaller and offers better performance than competitive products.
Opened sales offices in Switzerland and in Great Britain.
1998
Sold the one millionth power supply unit.
1999
Chomutov in Czechia obtains ISO9002 certification and becomes second manufacturing location, specializing in large-scale production.
2000
Capacity improvements at Chemnitz location: Expanded development, SMT assembly, logistics for Chomutov in Czechia and sales in the new (former East German) federal states.
Sales have more than tripled since 1997.
Market launch of the MiniLine family (25-100W).
2001
Introduced SilverLine family next generation - reduced dimensions and integrated electronic protection/fuse mode.
2003
Founded PULS USA.
2004
Founded PULS China in Shanghai and PULS France near Lyon.
2005
Launched the new DIMENSION product family - outstanding technical innovations and numerous features in an extremely compact size and with one-of-a-kind efficiency.
Outlook:
Expansion of the PULS facility in Chomutov (new building for manufacturing and
R&D department). Set up of an new facility in China.
Penetration of additional market segments by expanding the product portfolio.
Goals: Number one internationally for DIN-rail power supplies.
